So started new job and so happy to get away from the old, terrible one! New boss pulls me aside to tell me that old boss private messaged her to tell (warn?) her that I’m a terrible person and employee… at least new boss saw through it and realized that she was just mad that I was leaving. But the audacity
I just turned 17 today. And got turned down a good paying job because I made a stupid mistake when I was 16. I already paid off the fines and everything. I'm just mad cause they said my misdemeanor wouldn't clear when doing a background check. I'm tired of looking for jobs
Shady PTO Policy
My employer has a PTO Policy in the Employee Handbook but it's unattainable unless you go to administration for it. Every person I've spoken to, long-term & short-term employees say they have no idea about the policy and also don't have the Employee Handbook. After scouring the Employee Portal & asking literally everyone, I put in my two-week notice requesting my PTO be paid out. After this my administrator gives me the employee handbook that states PTO is not paid out and that mine is now frozen since I gave my two-week notice. I have over 2 weeks of time saved up and I really need/deserve this money paid out. The laws in NY are fairly clear, but since it's not publicly posted/available does anyone think I have a shot at getting this if I get lawyers involved?
I told my manager the days I needed off nearly six months in advance, I went into the office for something and see a little paper with the dates I requested off and a big fat X on them. Please understand that when I tell you I need those days off, it is not a request and I will call out if you schedule me. As a shocker to no one, my manager will be working an open to close shift soon.
Fired from job – Questions
Quick background, I am an engineer (means legally companies never have to pay me overtime, yay!) working for Company A and just received an offer for Company B. I'm planning on having my start date at Company B 12/19/22 and my end date at Company A 1/3/23. Company A I have 4 days of PTO remaining and they offer holiday pay until 1/2. Problem is I can't really give notice as I am scheduled to work the holiday but it is a job that I am going to be lacking resources and will likely have to work unpaid overtime (One of the reasons I am leaving). To get around this, I am planning on calling off (PTO from 12/19-12/22 & holiday from 12/23-1/2) and then show up on 1/3 and work at least a half day and resign the same day. I would use PTO from company B to do…
For the last 8 months I have been working in Sales. Sales, for the lack of better words, sucks. It’s all about volume and performance. Doesn’t feel like authentic human connect. I’ve been struggling to find another job and today I went in for an interview at a local supply company and got the position. It’s not great money and it’s not WFH. But it will improve my mental health as I am going to have more time. Time is my number one priority. My remote Sales job has saved me a lot of time commuting and money on gas, but it has provided me with little benefits and almost no time off. On top of that, my boss is a micromanager, or so I thought. I guess the whole industry I am in is kind of like that. Everything has to be super specific and I’m not a detail…
Even better if you have a story to share where you caught HR in a lie from asking your question.
So, I have 8 years experience and I have more than proven myself with deadlines at this new company. I got them through a really tough time because they had NO ONE to do the work. I mentioned several times that I was interested in being their art director. The general manager, knew this, and even asked me to help hire in new designers. I did interviews and training for the new people, and the owners really like me and were impressed with my design skills. I thought, finally, I can get ahead in my career and finally get the position I have worked years toward. They hired in a new guy that will now be my boss. He has “18 years” experience, but after reviewing his skills and portfolio and resume I saw glaring red flags. Like he had jumped around several positions over the years as “art director”.…
