Just expressing frustration.
Currently in interview processes as I have been for several months. Have been having amazing interviews, only for them to pass on me for another candidate. Finally got another interview after not having one for a while, and they sent an assignment for me to do before the interview. I’ll preface this part by saying I’m not in the position financially to pass this by or I would. This assignment is almost a month’s worth of work. For free. I am so tired. All I want is a job to pay my bills.
It's wild to me people still believe in govt or politicians having anyone's interest besides themselves given all weve seen in the last 3 years. Why would someone have an allegiance to a political party that is so polarized they can't even deal with logical discourse? Why would anyone trust a politician with their health when all the facts and numbers say covid is harmless and nearly 100% survivable based on all the numbers and billions of data points…? What are people not seeing?
HR? Or not?
Hi all. Today at work I got called in for a chat. This turned into not just a chat. My line manager and his manager who is the general manager asked me questions regarding a few incidents which have occurred recently at work (which I will tell later on) I'm currently struggling with seasonal winter depression which I get every year but I don't want to tell them this as it's still feels a bit of a taboo for me. GM asks what my problem is. I say there isn't a problem and he flies into a rage. He stands up (all of the proceeding was in an aggressive manner)walks to the door and tucks a chair under the handle, to block the door and I feel to intimidate me. Which worked. Then he walked back and aggressively asked me what my problem is again. I say there isn't one…
GM trying to ice me out?
I am a server at a higher-end, local steakhouse. Four weeks ago there was an incident at work in which myself and two other openers were cut from the floor. This means that we done taking tables, we are to finish up our tables, roll silverware, polish glasses, etc. Basically, help the closers get shit done so they can do their closing duties and go. Our restaurant is a very tight space, especially in the back of the house. Not much room and constantly working on top of each other/getting in each others' way. I was trying to roll silverware with one of the openers after a long shift. We were standing rolling silverware in the same place we always do. People kept needing us to move aside to grab something, or they kept calling for food runners, there was just always one thing or another hindering us from doing…
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/dayton-boots-decision-1.6663195? Quick context: A retail company in Vancouver was recently denied an appeal on a court order that went against them. They were deducting 50% of employee wages and issuing them instead as gift cards to the same store.
Do I tell my boss about gossip?
Not sure if this is the right sub, but here goes… I try to keep to myself and stay out of drama/gossip at work, but I got roped into an awkward situation. Long story short, a coworker from another department was being nosy and messaged me on Teams asking “off the record”, how often another coworker comes into the office (they are both in same department). I knew where this was going so I simply replied with “hmm, why do you ask?” She then says a manager asked her. I didn’t have the heart not to tell my coworker about it. I’m afraid now that her manager will get in trouble for having employees check on other employees and that I will get involved somehow. Should I mention this at all to my manager? I don’t want to be involved in the situation any more or bring it up, but…
