I interviewed for an entry level position for three weeks with 3 different teams and after the last interview, they ghosted me for a week or so before coming back and requesting five references’ emails all by the end of the day last Friday. Mind you, they tell me this Thursday afternoon, as if it isn’t about to be thanksgiving week. I remember when reference requests used to be in the application, but now wasting someone’s time first is a-ok. It’s a weird time to be alive.
For the past three months I've worked at a small product-testing lab that specializes in vitamins and supplements. Client companies send in samples of their products and we verify that they are not full of arsenic, lead, mercury, etc. I started in the 'prep' lab preparing the samples but last month I was moved to their wet chemistry lab where they do a bunch of little side tests I've had to learn. There's also a microbiology department. When I started there were 17 or so employees. Three weeks after I started, the sample load plummeted. Now each day we don't have enough for even 8 hours of work when previously employees worked overtime to get results out on time. Shortly after, the chemistry manager (my boss) was fired. She had been no-call no-showing a lot but when she did show up she was often drunk. After she was gone the…
“An employee died during a shift at an Amazon logistics center in Leipzig (Germany). Cardboard was allegedly placed around his body – other employees continued to work around him. The company subsequently acknowledged mistakes, but did not explain why operations were not completely shut down.”
Companies isn’t all about sales!
I got an email saying our Q4 will be happening next month. I don’t want to go but I have to. The last one was pretty much a circle jerk of sales and upper level people congratulating each other. I work in tech and I love my job. I worked my ass off to get the job and I work my ass off at the job because I love what I do and I want a long career in tech. But it pissed me off to see these people and how they think sales is the back bone of the company. And when they do prize give aways, all those circle jerk people are the only ones in the running for those prizes. News flash! You work in a tech company you can’t sell what you don’t have. So you don’t work if the developers aren’t there to make the…
How to quit and collect Unemployment…
So I figured I would share my story here as I think it could help others. So back before the pandemic ( late Nov 2019') I was completely fed up with my job, the industry I worked in (sales) and most of the type of people I had to work with for the previous 15 years. Earlier that summer i was given a big promotion and then a week or two later my boss was fired and we got a new guy. He came in and started firing people left and right and putting his friends and family members in well paying positions. When I got the promotion I was excited about the new challenges but after a few months I realized that this new boss had other plans. He also hired a young attractive woman to be my “co-manager” to share responsibilities. I had 15 years experience in my…
I’m a healthcare worker and way back in Janurary 2022 I received an email that staff members would be receiving payment for getting fully vaccinated and working through the pandemic from Sep 2020 and Aug 2021. both of which I did. I kind of forgot about it and only remembered recently I’m supposed to be expecting it but haven’t received either payment.
Is it time to quit my job?
Hello! I’m 28F, with symptoms of social phobia. I currently have a high-paying job that is very stressful. My work is being watched by many eyes, which i eventually got accustomed to, despite my social phobia. My problem is that my superior never commends me when I’m doing my job correctly (sometimes i would go beyond his expectations), but I would get called out with small mistakes. He would commend my colleagues but not mention my name. I get ignored in our group chats. I am honestly fed up with being treated like this. I’m losing my sleep; im now feeling sick due to the stress. My only reward in all of these is that the pay is high. Who here left their high-paying stressful job and who are still putting up with it?
So I work retail long story short coworker put in a request off because he got his dad Eagles tickets to the SNF Eagles/Packers game tomorrow. Well work scheduled my coworker till 8 I was suppose to be done at 4. Dude called work and now instead of me getting call or text from manager I'm getting a text from my GF them telling her to tell me I'm working till 7. They have to ask first since the schedule is already up. Other issue is I'm going to the game with my Uncle as my cousin has a newborn exactly 3 Months old tomorrow sick. His wife wants him to stay home so my uncle texted me about going so I told him yes. I work close enough I told them with an 8:15 or so game I can get there if I work till 6 or so. They…
I’m currently a fulltime college student working 40+ hrs a week. There’s only two workers, me and my manager. For my upcoming semester in January I asked for Tuesday/Wednesday off, but I keep being met with “we can’t promise that. It might have to be alternating between Tuesday and Thursday”. I feel annoyed because I worked all by myself for 4 days (along with during Black Friday) because she wanted to attend a wedding. What should I do? I make good money for my age but should I look for another job? (only been working here for a little more than 2months).
