I work for a MMD company. They have a tendancy to not allow injured workers to receive treatment. Recently they sent out a memo in writing which states “DO NOT go to the ER or your personal doctor if you are injured at work. We will send you to our own facility” The thing is, they don't. Let's say someone injures their arm and believe it is broken and wants to get treatment. Our safety manager will refuse to allow you to go get treatment. Will do everything possible to talk you out of going. If an injury occurs on an off shift, they will tell you that you must sit and wait until their facility opens. This can be hours. Recently a coworker broke their hand. This employee wanted medical treatment. The safety manager told them no. Put ice on it and wait 3-4 hours for him to come…
Anxious to call in
I want to call in for a mental health day and I feel like so many jobs, esp in healthcare, there is so much guilt in calling in even when you’re actually sick!
I’m at my wits end here with my job. I constantly get scheduled 75+ hours a week and I am beyond burnt out. Will it ruin my future job prospects if I quit without notice and a new job calls my old manager?
[Mostly just a vent] So, today my manager got aggro towards me for getting a drink. He had sent myself and two other members of staff outside to try and pull more people into the store. Manager came out just as I got back and started bitching me out because I hadn't asked him, I said I'll bear it in mind next time. He went back in, and I was getting angry at how he had spoken to me, and when I get angry I cry. My colleagues noticed and came over to try and comfort me. When my manager noticed, he came out and…
Ok I think I gotta walk the fuck out
I’ll try to make this quick as I can but basically I lost another job and got a new job through a temp service because I was flat broke. I was told I would be on a rotating 12 hr/day 3 days on 3 days off swing shift (alternating between days and nights). All I was told about the job was that it was driving forklift and loading trucks at a paper bag warehouse. I get to the job and first thing I’m told is no you work M-F 8 hrs from 6-2. Ok fine. Also I only get one 20 minute break/lunch per day and I can’t go to my car without permission and at the end of week one I was told I can’t keep doing that. I start working and I’m basically just loading trucks. About a week in and they tell me that I’m actually not…
