Hi I’m looking for some advice and help. So I work with children in a one on one setting for multiple hours. Our policy is if a child throws up or has a fever they are sent home for 24 hours or until non symptomatic. I do like this policy as kids can get sick and expose us to really weird sicknesses. So yesterday right before I was about to start with a kid the person before me messaged me saying he threw up and she needs help cleaning up. So I left my lunch break early to come in and help. I work for a fulfillment company as a programmer/IT support. I have worked here for a little over a year and a half. The job posting had a salary range listed of $35k-$45k per year. It is an entry level job so, while it is a bit on the low side, I would have taken anything to finally get a job in this field. They offered me the job and gave me the lowest end of the range possible($17/hr.) because I “had no experience with SQL”(main language is python). After 6 months, I had a performance review and got a small raise, which bumped me up to about $38.5k a year($18.50/hr.). How is any worker happy living like this? How can anyone accept devoting a vast majority of their life to a billionaire’s corporation? Five days a week of grueling, mind numbing toil. Followed by a weekend of chores and errands. I have one day a week to do what I want, Saturday. Four days a month to have some sort of freedom. I don’t even have kids. after a year and a half of no job due to disability, i had started a new job in late october, and was having a rough time between training and being put on the floor. i had several questions and needed a lot of help, just as everyone else in my training group. i sent an email to my team lead and my trainer stating that i feel like i need more instruction to better assist the company in what they do. my team lead miss interpreted it to think i was resigning, and wished me luck in future endeavours. i was confused, so i contacted my hiring agency and they said to continue working as normal they’d look into it and update me shortly. the next day, i logged in and requested work, and my team lead told me to contact my temp agency. so i messaged her back…
