Verbally abusive boss
Just hit the 30 year mark at this company. I have, in the most literal sense filled all of their buildings to the brim and managed their space quite effectively. The warehouse is close to home, the hours are right, and the pay isn't great but it's not bad either. This company is fairly recession proof. My boss, owner of the company, is just horrible to the warehouse people, myself included. And there's absolutely no reason for it. Our work is always done and done well. I run an efficient ship. But, every week or so, he decides to alter the operations in his mind without telling anyone and then gets mad at us for doing what we have always done. He makes the job harder than it needs to be with changes that neither save time or effort. This past Friday, he was very close to eating some teeth.…
Just… be better.
I spend the first 4 years of my career doing unskilled work, like boring retail, packing shit away, working a register. Life kinda sucked- didn’t really have any money so it was hard. I took a chance and applied for a related role that levered some of my experience in the specific kind of retail I was in and thinks got a bit better, I had the same complaints as the work was the same essentially but higher regarded so it paid better and I progressed through that path for a decade. Did the same again this year and have leveraged my experience into another role and have a reasonable surplus every month. I know most will say that “you shouldn’t have to, life should be free” and “you can’t do that where I am” but From my experience being willing to plan next moves, not rely on any employer…
I just started a new job and they use this payroll called ADP and each employee has to create an account and set up direct deposit through there. I know I hate it but it's the only job offer I've gotten in months so here I am. When I try to create an account it says account is locked my HR has to fix it. I told my supervisors and they all just give me a confused look and say call ADP. I call, they say go to my HR. Supervisor insists ADP has to fix it. Back and forth back and forth. Other employees are going through the same thing and people are getting fed up. I don't know why it's so hard to just tell an employee where HR'S office is and get it over with. Im starting to suspect they're just trying to not pay the employees
Granted, I haven’t been the best employee, but no one has talked to me about it. I am working to be a better employee before they can say anything. My boss is a bit passive aggressive, so I’ve watched him not tell people when he is upset with them. Instead he uses me as an excuse to make changes. So I am not certain he will tell me the truth either. Will probably just blame it on someone else. What should I do?
First time posting. Just need a place to vent. I (32f) quit my toxic fast food assistant managers position. I grew up poor, so the moment I turned 16 (2006) I started working. I bounced around a few places before I settled at a local pizza place. I was there for a good while, and I'll admit I wasn't a good employee at first. I had kids, learned responsibilities, etc. Fast forward to March 2017. I started as a pizza cook at a franchise. Won't say which once. I hardly ever called off. I covered extra shifts when they needed me. Pulled double shifts. Worked my way up to management in the summer of 2022 when a huge amount of staff quit because of new owners. The new owners wanted alot of changes in staff, labor, etc. New owners replaced their “area coach” and the new one was a shark,…
