I work as a secretary on a team of 7 people. My boss (who I like) is trying to get our workload lowered by encouraging management to get more hires and trying to make the case that we are overtaxed and overburdened with work. As such she has consulted with a supervisor who has asked us to fill out a productivity log. Here is the problem. I resoundingly am not overtaxed. IMHO I am quite good at my job, I keep the people I work for happy and i get the shit they need done quickly and efficiently. But the vast majority of the time (especially when working at home which is 6 out of 7 working days)… I zone out, play video games, and pet my cat while waiting for the next thing to do. I hear about people who have WFH jobs making tons of money for these big tech companies and I bust my ass to get up early and drive through traffic to work for so little. So what's the point? Why shouldn't we all just sit at home and learn to code? Essential workers are just slaves. That is what the 'essential' means. It is essential you go to work or else you starve and are homeless.

Company I work for announced that our department was going to laid off in Jan 2023. This was around March 2022 that they announced the lay off. So we had almost a years noticed, and offered us severance, bonuses for staying on and a BIG payout to finish out our work until the last day. In addition, we were guaranteed offers at the new company when they take over. Which was all dandy and the best case senerio for a lay off. During the time they announced the lay off and the plan to move us over to the new company, but I already was fed up with the job. I wanted to quit in March before the announcement, but was taking my time to find a new job. However I convinced myself that staying for a little more then a year would be worth it. I am a receptionist with other duties as well. I spend about 20 percent of my time actually working. The rest is being constantly distracted. Office associates are so needy. They are kind but want me to acknowledge them everytime I walk by. When I don't, people say I'm grumpy.I am here to provide attention and make them feel special. It is so draining. And this is why we can't WFH. Make it make sense.

1st off i applied for the position even though the wage was not listed on the online ad, that alone shows i am interested in the job despite the pay 2nd if it WAS listed on the ad.. i wouldnt have to ask during the interview. i cant just except a job without knowing what the hell it pays. i HAVE to ask at some point BEFORE i except the position.. fucking clowns, fucking america. get your shit togther
