So. We need to provide our rent information to Welfare to get food assistance. So we asked our landlord for a receipt. He calls, drunk, saying “Why do you need this? I can't give you one because you don't have a lease. If I give you one I have to rate the property as a business.” We haven't had a lease with him in several years. We always paid our rent. He always kept up on the place. We had a great relationship. Girlfriend Answers “Because we need it for Welfare.” Landlord “Welfare? I don't like renting to people on Welfare. You need help you come to me.” Girlfriend pleaded with him asking what's wrong we've always paid our rent. We've always been on time with our rent. He's complimented us repeatedly for it. Landlord “I'm increasing your rent, and you're paying for water and trash, and I'll be coming…
Thanks for reading. I'll try not to spiral or meander. I recently started a new job (office/tech industry). I've had lots of life changes happening behind the scene-I relocated to be within a five minute commute to the office, and I ended a one-year relationship. I live by myself and don't have a circle of friends to stay busy with, but I do keep myself occupied with healthy hobbies. My previous job was mostly a virtual experience with online collaboration and communication, and I made a decision to course-correct a bit at the new job by trying to encourage my own personality and positivity, while being a sponge and learning from my peers. Today, my direct manager and an HR rep connected with me saying some concerns were raised about my style and method of communication. They mentioned I was not always clear or concise with my written communication, and…
I recently got a job bartending. I’ve been there for about 3 weeks. Two days ago while working my shift I accidentally dropped a shot glass and broke a bottle that was nearly empty. Today I got a call that I was being fired for that reason and because the owner had seen I don’t use a jigger. I’ve never had a problem with previous employers about not using a jigger for shots. I said okay, fine. I thought it was a stupid reason for firing, especially since I had been given zero warning and there were no corrective measures. Then, they informed me the price of the bottle would be deducted from my pay. I already sent a message to them asking if they could please let me know how much they would be deducting from my pay but I’ve yet to receive a response. How can I report…
So I wanted to give an update on my previous post where I walked out of my job after my boss threatened me. It's payday and guess who didn't get paid? I've gotten in contact with the Industrial Commission for my state and I'm submitting a claim now for the stolen wages. Anyone following this story may also know I've been considering the nuclear option – including additional contact with the Industrial Commission, the county sheriff's department, the local police, and Immigration. I can't go into the full details at this moment for obvious reasons, but let's just say I don't expect my former boss will be in business in the US very much longer.
