Legal or not legal?

I recently applied for a job through a recruitment agency, getting paid £10.80 an hour, they send me off to work at another company who aren’t my “bosses” but they pretty much are by all but title. So while at work today I was talking to my “boss” who explained if I stay on for the 6 months contract with agency then they’ll offer me full time work for base pay, I said, so £10.80? He replied saying no, their base pay is between £13 and £14 depending on which role I decide to pick. (This is what I want to know is legal or not) He explained that the company pays base pay to the agency but then the agency take whatever I haven’t been getting. So, they’ve been taking £2.20-£3.20 per hour I work. I spoke with friends about it they think it seems dodgy/illegal. I am doubtful…

How to politely say no to working a weekend?

I’m a new grad in a QA role, only 2 months in so i’m still on probation. Due to my work permit, I cannot look for another job or switch jobs until 6 months from now. Even though it’s only been 2 months, I was not given any training, and was thrown into the middle of a highly stressful project at a Big 5 Bank in Canada. This is the 3rd time in the past month that i’m being asked to work weekends to make up for the delays caused by the dev team. I am being rushed, and am also fresh out of surgery from last week, so I really don’t want to spend this weekend working as well — I’d rather rest and recover from my illness. Is there a way to politely refuse working this weekend without risking losing my job? I already took the first 2…

Employer is holding on to my last physical paycheck (EMS edition)

Work for a county in TN and my boss (director of ems) for our county wants to physically hand it over on his time. Holding it for an extra 4-5 days when I'm living paycheck to paycheck. Is this legal?

Job barely pays, I get sick often, and my coworkers are racist

I work at a hotel from 9am to 7pm and it truly sucks. Whenever I get there my general manager and manager are so lovely. But all of that nice experience goes away once they leave. The cleaning staff at this hotel purposely stays as late as possible so they can drag ass and get paid as much as possible. They get word that I start realizing this and assume that I’m the one who changed the time on their clock in sheet (it was actually the manager). Ever since then the entire cleaning staff minus one lady absolutely hates me. Every single time they see me they always say “you talk so white what is wrong with you” or they’ll call me on the hotel phone and say “are you sure you work here? You sound way too white”. It literally breaks my soul dealing with this shit every…

“Be more positive”? Thanks! I’m cured!

According to my former manager, part of the reason I was fired was my attitude. I was always too negative. Never mind that I have a documented history of severe anxiety and clinical depression. Which he was well aware of because it's the same justification I used for an ADA exemption when he tried forcing the team to return to office full time. Anyhow: With regards to your negativity, I have asked you multiple times verbally over the months to be a positive person, and to rectify your attitude. I’ve also said multiple times that our team needs to be a positive force in the company and outside. I understand this may be your style of humour, sarcasm, or way to provide feedback, but as indicated previously and now again in writing, this is inappropriate and this needs to stop. […] In the future I expect you to behave in…
