What’s your dream job?
I am starting a new job soon after and I feel afraid that I will always allow people to take advantage of me no matter where I work. I’ve been at my current employer for a very long time and management just dumped a ton of workload on me and shit on me over the years. I have finally come to the decision to leave and seek employment at a better place but I am afraid I will fall into the same trap and do the same thing. Has anyone else ever experienced this or know how to set boundaries to not be a doormat at work, especially when you are new? I feel like I always want to be liked by everyone and it just leads me into trouble.

One of my managers made me cry today
Today was emotional, I’ve had many jobs before so I’ve had plenty of different job experience and know how things work, etc. well this job I have currently is the first job that made me break down and cry. Own of my managers (older women) accused me of stuff, and threatened to fire me, I tried defending myself but she yelled at me and told me I was being disrespectful and I shouldn’t talk back to her. I said okay and the other manager (younger women) over heard and told the older manager it was misunderstanding and how it was her fault for giving me the wrong directions. (Health inspector coming to visit). She did apologized and I wasn’t surprised many co workers hate or dislike her and have quit or told the DM (cuz the SM doesn’t listen) about how horrible of a person she is. She’s infamously known…
my work charges us for ppe
I work in a glass factory and found out they charge us 25 cents from our paycheck for every pair of gloves or safety glasses we get from the vending machine. Is this even legal? I thought they were required to provide it
Thanks to this reddit, I've realized I genuinely want to quit my job Ive listed list why below. How have people transitioned from one position to another? Have you used a resume or career counseling session? If so, how much was it and was it effective? -stole credit from me for a $6 million cost savings initiative (that's a low estimate on just fees alone). -refused to let me take PTO (have to work during PTO) -0 mentorship or development from my managers -inconsistent leadership -no positive reinforcement from work despite taking on the worst clients at the highest metrics. -stole committee I had to run solo since my first month I started. -negative feedback over the top. I get it in meetings, writing, and in emails despite being told I take criticism well and adapt from it -forced to work in person for an entirely remote position – I'm…
a stunning level of cheapness
Hi all, In real life, Im an electronics repair SME. Very good at what I do. Looking for work. So I answer ad's. Today I got back a number that was nearly an insult. The ad was for a medical equipment repair position. Removed the names and company ID not to run afoul of the rules here. If it were up to me, they should be exposed for this level of cheapness. This is what I got back to my ad answer. Or 'the 80's called' they want their pay rate back. Company E mail Thank you for applying to the Entry Level Repair Technician posting. Before we move forward are you aware the position salary is $35,360.00 – $36,400.00 per year ………………………………………………………………………….. Me Was hoping that number was a typo. That offering is not much better than what fast food is offering. Share a thought as time permits. Mike…
My company’s IT department is asking us to use our smartphones to either download an APP or use text messages for 2FA in order to login to our computer system. My state (IL) has a law in place that companies must reimburse employees if they are being directed to use their personal cell phones for work usage. Does anyone know if this qualifies under the law? Who do I contact to make a complaint? State attorney general ?
