So a Kitchen Team Leader at my pub was recently sacked, for being late whilst still on a disciplinary. They're one of the best employees we had, and were fired by the Pub Manager without them even consulting the Kitchen manager. It just goes to show how little they care about us. Because not only has someone lost their job, but the other employees are now suffering because we've lost one of our best co-workers. The pub manager didn't even consult the kitchen manager, so they were taken completely by surprise, and we're now short staffed for the next coupe of weeks because the rota's were already done. It's made worse by the fact that the firing is most likely racially motivated (Person Fired is a POC, and the pub manager is known to have literally blurted out the n word) I'm so sick of living like this, but it's…
fuck I get why your asking for staff
So whent to a volunteer job basically got a random interview I wasn't ready for told my lack of employment and references history and asking why a creative art degree was nessery for data entry and was called untrustworthy
The thing about toxic work cultures
Is that you need to be proactive in dealing with them. Do not place all your eggs in one basket when it comes to employment. Anything could happen on any day for any reason. One day you'll be the superstar, the next you'll be thrown out eg Twitter. Build connections, make friends. For me, I've always worked a second job as a “just in case” measure. Sure, it means I'm basically working 5, 6 or even 7 days a week, but nothing beats good job security and two streams of income. If we accept that toxic work cultures are inevitable, I feel it is our responsibility to rise above it and take steps to protect ourselves. The hardest thing to do is to break out of a bad environment. But for those who have recently left their previous workplaces, I feel that going forward the best advice is to keep…
These Corporations all have dumb ass Mission Statements, goals, campaigns and objectives. I think it could be fun and give everyone a laugh to post honest Mission Statements, goals, campaigns or objectives for corporations. It can be the Company you work for, a big corporation that exploits their employees, whatever your imagination can come up with. I work for USPS. Campaign: USPS, “We deliver if we fucking feel like it.”
Seeking Advice – Breaking Point
First time posting here, looking for some unbiased advice. Long story here, but figure context is necessary. Current status: I have a well paying job, with great benefits (insurance, 401k, private pension, etc). I’m an IT infrastructure manager, overseeing data centers. My boss is a good guy, but very hands off, leaving me isolated on an island. The people that work for me (inherited) are vastly incapable of doing the work and I pickup the swath of slack. Background: I started with this company over 12 years ago. I have a few college courses in the books but not even an associates degree. I was a shitty student with no direction, but knew how to work. I moved my way up as I’ve always been hungry and have a solid work ethic. I’m first generation in the US, my parents came to here from the Middle East. I started out…
never, ever, EVER..work for a neighbor.
I’m not asking….
Gonna keep it short: texted my boss that I was not feeling well and taking PTO. Coworkers tell me boss was saying: is he asking? Is it a statement? Why doesn't he answer his phone? Like bro….pretty sure I TOLD you I'm not coming in, not asking for the day off.
