Going to be rather vague but I'm just looking to see if this is all legal or if I have any course of actions if my employer decides to fire me. This is also Work From Home. -Hired for 7 weeks training, 3 weeks in they changed it to 4 weeks and that last week seemed to be rushed training for an entirely different role. The previous 3 weeks training covered some basics of the programs used but overall taught us things I haven't dealt with a single time in nearly two months. -I was using programs outside of work hours to study, HR contacted me about it and said 'please do not study outside of work hours for liability reasons, if you feel you need more training ask the trainer or contact us here at HR'. -When training was reduced to 4 weeks and I felt rushed and improperly…
This happened quite a while ago when I was a very young adult, but it was one of the very few times I walked off the job. I had just been hired at a pallet recycling yard and had been there one day when I received news of a terminally Ill family member. The next day before my shift, I walked into the supervisors office and told them I needed to take the afternoon off but that I could work the morning. The supes response “Well I’ll allow you to do this just once, but if you ever ask for time off without proper notice, don’t bother coming back”. I honestly don’t even remember if I got paid…
lol facts.

Find something you can clock in and out of, doesn’t have emotional power over you, and pays the bills so you can live how you want to live. And remember “work sucks”
I am a shift lead at a cannabis dispensary in a major US city, I work full time, and I make $19 an hour (which is just barely enough to cover my bills) My dispensary just sent out an email telling all staff that their time-off requests will be IMMEDIATELY and INDISCRIMINATELY denied unless the person putting in the request has enough PTO. Basically, no unpaid time off allowed; we own you and your time. I am a leftist and have been a member of antiwork for a long time, but I was also raised by Republicans who instilled in me the American work ethic. It's always been difficult for me to ask for what I need from my boss and advocate for myself in the workplace. For a minute, I considered keeping my head down and quietly looking for another job, but during the morning meeting yesterday I spoke…
