As stated in the title boss would be a nightmare on saving any bit of energy even if we asked multiple times to turn on the heater and me and my coworkers had a good laugh about it and wondering if anyone got some petty stories they want to share
My boyfriend is about to get hired at a company that outsources delivery drivers for amazon. It seems like an okay job to me. He'll work four days a week and still get forty hour work weeks. His hourly is pretty good too. The only thing that concerns me is his boss told everyone in the interview that they have to pay $700 for the background check, amazon training, and the drug test if they did not for him for a year. He did not specify if it was a verbal agreement or will be in a written contract. Is this like red flag city or am I just paranoid? We have a kid otw and we really don't have room to lose any money.
Got laid off this week
Nothing else, really. My boss was pretty shite so it’s for the best. Taking some time to myself before I start looking, but sucks to have to worry about benefits.
I work from home, and I'm pretty sure my employer is monitoring my computer constantly. Several times a day, a small button will briefly pop up in the lower right corner that indicates my location is being used. At other times, a small white window will flash across the screen and disappear (it's rather obnoxious because it slows my computer for a few seconds). I'm not worried about video monitoring because my camera is physically blocked, but I wonder what they're doing with the mic.
My employer doesn’t honor doctors notes, so if you call out sick and don’t have sick hours, it’s unexcused. Two unexcused absences within a year is a write up. Sick hours accrue VERY slowly. I told them very early on that I have chronic migraines and fibromyalgia. I put it on my application and I have it in my medical records. I’ve had to come to work in excruciating pain, but every time I try to bring it up they just go “oh well…you need to figure out how to make it work”. I can’t quit this job because I have rent to pay and other jobs aren’t paying nearly as much (I get paid 17.80 an hour which should tell you something). I have no idea what to do. I’m sick of driving to work while trying not to puke the whole way there and knowing I can’t back…
Think about it. If after working 40 hours a week, people still need help from other sources isnt that directly taking advantage of a person and one’s time? How isn’t it? The fact that people living on welfare while working FULL TIME is even a thing should be enough to prove to any moron who denies how shitty wages are for majority jobs right now.
My Boss is Ghosting Me
So I've been working at a small business for about a month now, meaning its only me and my boss, no other employees. First red flag: My boss said they would pay me on the 15th and 31st of every month. Well my boss was on a road trip when the 15th of the month came around so I didn't get paid. I let it slide because I know she's busy. Then a few days later, she promised to pay me Friday (the 19th), thankfully she texted me this without me having to ask. Anyways, didn't hear anything Friday so on Saturday I asked if something didn't work with my bank account. That's when she decided to tell me she left all my info at work so she couldn't pay me. Then she said I needed to give her my hours and SIN number. Didn't realize I was supposed to…
