So many people are going further into debt to meet their basic needs because they aren't paid enough. And is everyone just hoping a solution pops up? What's gona happen to all those people when they can't get caught up?
My colleague (25F) as a supervisor got promoted to Assistant Manager and whereas I (26M) am a Manager-In-Training. I have had 10 years of experience in the field whereas she has 2. I’ve had a lot more better guest reviews and return guests come back for me and I have a lot more knowledge than her. Yet she only mostly just throws tantrums and is moody all the time and is asking me for help all the time. She has been speaking to our director of operations about leaving before, as she has a better offer out there. My director gave in and here I am, working my fucking ass off and not even being recognised? They put me through a leadership program but promised me a manager position in the end, yet gave a supervisor who’s not been fighting for it the position and there’s me who’s been fighting…
what am i supposed to do ?
This feels pathetic to ask only after 2 days of working for this company but, I got a cleaning job. I have a year's experience with cleaning and desinfection at a healthcare facility. 5 hours a day, small collective, good pay, boss was very helpful and human to everyone. I had to quit this job because of moving across the country (family reasons). Since then i've been jobless for almost 5 months. I applied to over 20 places since. I found this 8hrs a day cleaning job, mostly sweeping hallways and stairs. It left me feeling so stressed out and confused tho. There are so many things that stressed me out. The bosses watch me all the time, want me to sweep in a very specific (and stupid) way. A lot of stupid uneccesary rules instead of letting me work with my own efficient system i'm used to. My coworkers…
I get sick, I have no sick time because I'm considered part time so I accrue it very slowly, but I miss 2 days of work and now my check will be short right before the holidays. DON'T BE THAT CO-WORKER. IT'S SO FUCKING RUDE AND SELFISH!
She was in her forties and left behind a husband and an eleven year old son. She was still looking healthy a month ago. No one saw it coming. My boomer mum is convinced she was overloaded and the company will need to hire 2-3 people to cover her duties. This is the same mum that made me show up to the office during an internship when I had bronchitis, who used to boast about how she never took a day of sick leave for years, and argues with me that work from home culture is not “correct”. Worse, when the news hit yesterday, the colleague's direct boss had to gall to comment that life should be lived to the fullest. My dude, you are a fkin murderer. Hopefully the shock from suddenly losing her regular lunch buddy will make her confront those long-held toxic ideas about work.
Your own boss.
Each and every one of us are own boss, do not ever forget that. You ultimately have the final say in every little thing you do. What you agree to, what you disagree with, what you say and what you do, and how you go about it all. Yes, society has an influence on how you can go about running YOUR OWN BUSINESS, but ultimately, you are the CEO of you. You are selling hours of your life, body, soul and mind to someone who is capitalising on your existence. Do so in a way that suits you and your needs. If your effort is not being respected then hold strong on your abilities as a person to adapt and improve, make yourself a better person and move on to better things. You run this show, believe in yourself and never let “the man” beat you down. You can achieve…
