I'm not sure if this is the right sub for this, but you all seem to be pretty knowledgeable about worker's rights. I'm ready to quit my job, but I should be receiving a pretty large EOY bonus that I don't want to miss out on. According to prior communication from the company, which I do not have in writing, anyone employed as of 10/31 will be eligible to receive the bonus. We're obviously passed this date, but the company needs time to determine exactly what amounts each person is supposed to receive. This has been standard procedure in previous years. My EOY review will likely be next week. Typically, this is when they will give me the exact amount of my bonus, I will sign my review and obtain a copy for my records. My assumption is that this is the key date. Lastly, the bonus payment usually gets…
I'm a game dev, and I was just fired from my job, so I'm looking for jobs in various sites, but all of them ask for salary expectations in the application process. I know that it's best not to tell salary expectations, but idk what exactly to do when it's a required field just to get to the interview… I'm putting 2x what I earned at my old job (I know I was underpaid there), but I know it's not ideal.
I live in Florida and a hurricane is coming our way. The schools are going to be closing down tomorrow and Friday for the tropical storm or hurricane. However my jobsite thinks it's okay to still operate tomorrow. The general contractor and supervisors have no common sense!
.. that my BOSS told me to do! This is just a rant. I am tired. After 10 years of remote/freelance work, I FINALLY got a salary job. I was hired to go to a hybrid schedule on 01/01, which I was happy with. Everyone else in the company has their own type of hybrid schedule. With the accolades and positive comments I got from my team and others, I requested a hybrid schedule to begin 2 months before the original date, or allow for a few hybrid days a month. No reply from HR for 9 days, and I was let go on the 9th day due to “profit loss.” Guess who else was let go? NO ONE ELSE. This is fucked. I am so tired of this war between remote and back in office that doesn't even need to happen. Remote work WORKS. I'm tired of folks who…
Is this the new American Dream?
Am I a wimp, or justified?
Been at this new job for about a month doing shipping. Found out the owner and the shop guys want me to do the booze runs for them, about $2,000 worth collectively. I'm a recovering alcoholic and really don't feel comfortable doing this, so am I just being a b*tch or am I justified on not wanting to do this? Was not mentioned in the interview either btw.
