I work for a small company thats gone through a lot of changes. We have a new CMO and in a 1 on 1 she left an open question: anything else? And I mentioned that though my boss has never complained, she's working until 11p and on weekends. She said they're aware and thanked me, said they can do more to alleviate that and give her the space to say no to things. This had great organizational results. Today she calls me to tell me be careful what I say to the boss's boss's boss, thanked me for my candor because it really affected positive change, and not to read into it. Im confused. I helped but don't do it again? Feeling shut down rn. Not good for a skeleton crew.
There have already been signs of jealousy, really low beyond low Trump-style retaliation/insult tactics from another employee, and slandering of non-mainstream answers to the incompetent governance issue. In addition, they said they don't care about equity. They're in a sector that affects the future to a high degree. I have reason to believe they'll retaliate if I speak up it's not ok to slander equity and political positions you don't understand. But they really shouldn't be purporting to have authority over the future if they haven't even mastered these basics without lowest of low tactics like retaliation, triangulation, and overcompetitivceness. I have reason to believe they are trying to enforce their opinion on clients. Advice?
Context: I worked as a video-editor for a couple of days in september (payed hourly which where i live is payed out the following month) but very quickly wrote to them that I will not be coming in anymore because it felt unsafe for me to be there. (Short version, the boss was a big child calling everyone and everything names, the other employes where either scared to death or irritatingly complying, all obv putting up with it but the main giveaway for me was that he threw a fit and violently bent broke an apple keyboard because it didnt connect and then BLAMED ME within the first thirty minutes of my first day) Now, the pay is not on my bank account and I need to write an e-mail to check where the holdup is, what do I write to ensure I get it?
I quit yesterday and I feel so relieved. I don't even know how to express my happiness. I thought it was in a union job so I was saved from toxic management but I wasn't. It's like the more you know your coworkers around the department, the more they can figure out your work performance and whether you are disabled or not i.e if you are getting only 16 hours per week, they treat you like you are receiving only 16 hours because you are unproductive. Most people with disabilities work in the maintenance department where they clean and push carts with 16 hours of work per week. A LOT OF EMPLOYEES KNOW IT AS DISABILITY DEPARTMENT, Unlike Trader joes where all employees are required to take turns in different roles which won't highlight who you are. I work at health&beauty care department where I was ok with my work.…
A funny life
It’s funny how I’m at home + sleeping for lesser time than the whole time I commute to work and at home yet ironically rent takes quarter of your salary. Sigh….
Brace yourself, this may be a long one. About three months ago I started a new position that gave me a better work environment, better pay/benefits, better title to elevate my career, all that good stuff. My position requires me to be on call and as of right now it is just me and one other person, although we have a third starting Monday, so I am on call every other week. My new job allowed me to move in with my amazing girlfriend and only be about two hours from home. I have a daughter who I see frequently and while her mother is an amazing mother she has her faults (as we all do). She is a trust fund child so she only has to work part time to get by. This leaves me with paying for my child’s current medical expenses, her pre school, carrying her on…
