gf has been working in a custodial position for a university. sometime last month she got a promotion (this was already overdue as she has been working with the responsibility of another position but without the pay). despite this, her paychecks have not reflected her higher pay. she's trying to get it fixed but hr tells her to talk to her department, and her boss in her department tells her to talk to hr. she thought she reached a solution but another paycheck came in and not only is she not getting proper pay, she's now making 12.85. Less than minimum wage in our state. (hr claims there was an error switching her from hourly to salary.) she has the paperwork for the new position, it's pay rate, and the day she's supposed to be back payed to but we're concerned the university is going to hem and haw and…
A hypothetical for this sub
Hello everyone, I'm new to this sub and I think the idea of “putting an end to work”(as the description says) is very interesting. I have a couple hypothetical questions for everyone here. 1: Is it possible to have a world without work? 2: How would a society operate if work was abolished? I'm not starting a debate – I want to hear this communities ideas. Even if capitalism were totally done away with, wouldn't we still be left with a lot of work to be done? Because we still need food, we need houses, cars, public services, utilities etc. Could you all share your thoughts on how a society could function without work? Or if it's possible?
Never heard of it but I don’t trust it, any ideas?
My boss is hell bent on ending my WFH by the end of this quarter. I have IBS and crohns disease – all documented and signed by my doctor. They still want me to come in starting Q1 – I want to make them regret it. They cited a recent business trip I attended as reasoning to get me into the office. Except, I didn't have a choice in attending. My boss informed me I would be travelling with the team, so I went. They're also trying to say my position was not created remotely, which is true. I was hired in October 2020. Only issue with this is we have two people in my same department that work remotely simply because they moved to another state during the pandemic. Their positions were also not created to be remote, but the company adapted. The problem with this reasoning is I…
Has any one had this issue? Any time I make an even slightly critical review of a company I worked for they reject my review every single time.My only reviews that have been accepted are for positive reviews. I haven't said any thing in my reviews that was false, contained swear words, or anger. I try to remain to the point and factual. What even is the point of leaving reviews?
“I don’t think you’re creative.”
How a recruiter started and ended their call with me today. Some people just want to form a random impression, and it doesn't matter what you say, they prefer to be 'right.'
Reporting employer for tax fraud
Has anyone ever done this? I've filled out a form on the IRS website but I can't find where to upload it and it seems like I would have to mail it in
