Not that we had many rights as it was, but the stress is really getting to me. I’m scared because it feels like the ones who need to leave government (worked there for more than 10 years example) are only consolidating power while enacting laws like “anti power consolidation law” knowing damn well it does the opposite.
I WANT TO WORK!!! A rant on job seeking.
I’m so tired of seeing bullshit boomers say no one wants to work…. I left a job to start a “better” one. Was promptly fired after two weeks for not being a good fit and given severance. I’ve applied for unemployment and food stamps, but that is a frustrating cat and mouse game trying to get people on the phone. I had to go file for forbearance for my mortgage. I’ve been applying EVERYWHERE. Career Source, Indeed, LinkedIn… I have had over five interviews in the last month, with none of them going anywhere! I’m qualified in my field. I have two degrees. I WANT TO WORK!!!! Many of the jobs I’ve been seeing online give shit pay for someone to perform what should be two separate positions. $14 for a digital marketing manager and you want 4+ years of experience? $35,000 for a position that requires a four year…
I just had two interviews and they won’t disclose any salaries in Toronto, Canada !
Yes, that is what I have to ask people for during onboarding. I am surprised nobody has punched me yet.

Boss asks if I’m interested in promotion
Boss asked me today if I might be interested in a promotion. I asked him if there would be a significant increase in pay. He responded so you'll only be taking this for the money? The conversation went sideways and I reiterated that I would need a significant pay increase. He said he has to go back to his boss for the 2nd time to see what it might be. How should I go about my next interaction with the boss? Some back story. I am a field service tech. I was hired in off the street with no formal training before being hired 6 years ago. I am now the one of the TOP technicians on my team. I would be put into a lead role with leadship over people who have 20-30 plus years of experience. I would be making less than the people I would be leading?…

Friend was using his disability but coming into work between chemo treatments and working from home/hospital when too sick to come in. Laid off him and his boss with no notice and escorted them out. Boss had a baby a few months ago. Also laid off a woman on another team who was injured recently (now wheel chair bound). This is 10 months after the friend was hired, picked up his whole life and moved across the country for this job.
