So, just last week I lost my job working in SEO. It was painful and demoralizing, and I've come away with a powerful distaste for the corporate environment. But, I'm more empowered than ever to pursue my passion of writing fiction and live a fulfilling life. Trouble is, most jobs that pay well demand you signing your life over emotionally and in terms of time. I want to be able to pursue my MFA and get my novel published, but I dont know where to go. What kinds of jobs pay decently well but allow time for writing? Any advice regarding recovery from losing my job or next steps for my career would be exceedingly appreciated. Thank you all so much.
What’s up with small business owners?
Before anybody jumps on me about how I'm just a lazy trash human, yes me myself I am starting a business and quite disgusted by the culture. I don't get it, these small business owners have straight up tantrums if A. People don't want to work for them (usually due to minimum wages) B. People don't want to buy your product. What happened to the “fuck your feelings” crowd getting so hyper sensitive about this??? No one has to work for you if they don't want to and no one has to buy your product???? The entitlement while calling everyone else entitled
So I’m finishing up clinicals for a much needed career change. So yesterday, I put in a notice. Four weeks. Plenty of time to replace an entry level position like mine. Today when I come in, I’ve been moved to the hardest area in my department and assigned more work in this area than anyone ever is. I’m about to go sound off. Update coming if you want it
Thought I’d share this LinkedIn ad on FB
Six years of college for this?
Does anyone else experience this concept where you or someone else, has been given extra responsibilities because you have some other qualifications that the rest of the employees don't have, and ended up having to do those extra work but with no extra pay or benefits ? And the moment you screw up, you get scrutinized and ridiculed to no end. Meanwhile, you get to watch those around you doing less work, but still getting the same pay. This to me feels like a form of exploitation, and I don't understand how companies can do this . It is extremely frustrating because it is the definition of performance punishment, this just discourages people from working hard, and become complacent . I myself have been through this in the last 3 jobs that I had, and I just felt so drained and jaded to the point where now I just don't want…
