for context, i was 16 years old when i got this job in may 2022. i turn 17 this month. i worked at a fast food chain restaurant located in missouri, not gonna say the name just incase, but you'll probably be able to tell the name because it is also the name of a very fast, unnatural colored hedgehog. my friend suggested the job because i was looking to make some money over the summer and she said it was nice. plus, it'd be something to put on my resume and college applications just to cushion it out. applied, gm called me the next day during World History and invited me to come in next week for interview. This is more so a rant post I guess. At the job I have right now, I was unable to put in any requests for time off that I need because for one, my employee ID number wasn’t working and two, I was told the wrong app we use for requests. The ID number not working already took time away from my request deadline, and then being told the wrong app took even more time away from the deadline. I told my boss the days I won’t be in and the reason I was unable to meet the 3 week deadline. She basically tells me I was being irresponsible and am not following company policy for not putting requests in with 3 weeks ahead of time. Long story short, our company just got acquired by a private equity firm. Management is simultaneously trying to say it's not an acquisition because “our name won't change” but they also said “we need to control our salary costs.” Does private equity ever leave operations as-is or should I expect the scalpel to come out? If that happens, how much lead time between acquisition and cuts should I expect (not counting the elon BS).

I said I couldn’t work because I had to take my mom to her chemotherapy appointment, that I had already pre-approved with him. This guy verbally abused me all day when I come in a Do his books for his shitty car wash company. Do I have recourse?

This is becoming a serious problem for me. I fear for my future in the next month. The only solution I see is to begin sustenance farming on my rural property. I know this sounds confusing, but i want some input here. I work for a company in canada that is used as “outsourcing” call center work for many fortune 500 level companies. The company i work for has centers in over 15 countries, including the US, Jamaica, Philippines, Egypt, Bulgaria, etc… And they are strictly anti-union. From my understanding, after hearing things from some other managers, they have been known to shutdown centers who try to unionize. However, the program i work under (which is the company that uses us as an outsource call center) IS Unionized. They're a major US telecommunication company and only recently unionized in the past 1-2 years. Keep in mind here as well, the people working under the company directly make nearly DOUBLE what i do, for the same position, and even more so after conversion from USD to CAD.
