gratuity expectancy instead of higher wages

i've seen a lot of people complaining about how almost every service has an option for tipping lately, and it's becoming increasingly common and expected. i agree it's ludicrous. but really, it's ludicrous that we are being paid so little that we need tips. minimum wage should be the minimum you need to take care of your family, not the minimum you need to not immediately die. this isn't something you should complain about to minimum wage workers when they ask for tips, but something we should hold companies accountable for. corporations need to provide better wages. if anyone knows of petitions or ways to take action in relation to this please let me know! and i'd love to learn more about this topic from y'all.

Wasting the company’s time.

Ever notice how interviewers, supervisors, and managers frequently bring up how you waste the companies time? They never seem to give a cr*p about how they waste your time with their constant mismanagement, empty promises, and overall BS.

The Financial Advice I’ve recieved

I had a manager once tell me that I would “spend every penny that I made.” He was saying that as I started making more money, I needed to put that extra money away and pretend it doesn’t exist instead of adjusting my life style. It’s been three years. I just got a promotion I 100% did not want. But I need the money. I cannot live like this forever. And now, I’m working ridiculous hours. I won’t have time for anything except working and getting ready to work. I was trying to console myself that I would have enough money now to set aside—that maybe I could scrape enough together to leave. To change something. To go somewhere. To train or learn something different. But then my body started talking back. I remembered how much money I desperately need to fix my teeth and to treat my other conditions.…

Dear Twitter Employees: Just Stay Home.

I'm seeing multiple reports (like this one on Bloomberg: https://archive.ph/1cB5D) that Musk is planning to lay off up to half of his employees tomorrow, and that's after he demanded 80+ hour weeks to make changes, after he fired most of the C suite, and after he allowed racism and harassment on Twitter to go up 500%. He has already made it clear that he will demand everyone return to the office. And for what? So he can cut your pay? Screw you out of your bonus? Work you to death while he literally re-enables some of the worst people IN THE WORLD to have free reign and a global audience? This is all just so he and Goldman fucking Sachs get a return on their multi-billion-dollar stupidity. Elon literally can't do it without you. Call his bluff. Stay home. Make him fucking fire you. You're fired anyway! It's only a…

Two coworkers of mine mine killed themselves in the past 6 months.

I’ve realized work is the front line for mental health. I joined anti work a while back because I’ve experienced the hell scape that is corporate slavery. For the past 2 years I’ve been working for a very small manufacturing company. We are all closer than the average sweat house. The owner of the damn company just helped me move a dresser into my house for my newborn son. He’s a fucking dickhead and we fight about a lot of things but he’s a good guy nonetheless. Yet two people died by their own hands in our crew. I can’t even fucking sleep at this point. I knew they were struggling. I was so fucking close to telling the owner “ Let that fucking guy get some help and he can come back”. He would call out every pay day and get high. I watched him become weaker and weaker.…

Some advice cpncerning work uniforms?

I live in NY state and I work in a hotel. About 8 months ago we switched from this ugly ruffly shirt with a black suit jacket as our uniform to a solid black polyester collared shirt with our business logo on it. From the moment we got the new shirts I was rather unhappy. I hate collars. I have never worn them. I am a victim of physical and emotional abuse, including choking, so I cannot stand anything tight around my neck. I was glad to not have to wear the suit we had before, but I requested an XS since the shirts run big, but they said they only had Small. They are very big on me. Super baggy and even after several washes do not fit me well. I voiced this numerous times when we first got them but no one ever got back to me the…
