I haven’t been in work since the 6th October, and I have a sick note from my doctors from the 6th October to the 13th December. I got a letter from work today that said I need to go in to work on 5th November (this Saturday) to talk about my absence and it said I may get disciplinary action against me if I don’t go. I have already been to a meeting on 17th October about why im taking sick time off (it’s because of work related stress). Do I have to go to the meeting? Can they fire me if I don’t? I’ve been treated really badly by the managers there, so I think they’ll try anyway to fire me.
Hahahahahahahaha!
Applied for a big resort/entertainment park on Indeed for Christmas season. Said park had ads all over for Halloween too, so I was surprised how they had more mass hiring again. I was invited for an interview but I didn't schedule an interview spot yet. Yesterday I received a phone call from a recruiter asking me when I can come for an interview. Sounded very polite and in need for people so I decided to schedule one for today. My interview was on 10am. Upon my arrival there were other 20 people like a job fair. I signed in, took a seat and was waiting. My interview was supposed to be 15 minutes long and I was still waiting. After half an hour, I went to the front desk and asked them when am I gonna be called in. They told me I only had two people ahead of me.…
A few years ago, I was working a decent paying job that ate all my time. Suddenly, someone with a lot of ins in my industry took notice of my work. We became good friends, and the opportunity of a lifetime presented itself. I had a few thousand dollars saved up, but the opportunity would take all my time, so I left my job and went out on my own. Well, things didn't pan out, but I'm glad I tried. I just needed to get a day job again. No biggie… At first I was honest in interviews. I saw no need to lie. I've excelled in every role I'd ever been offered, and I was clearly determined and smart. But interview after interview I was denied, even for low paying jobs that were guaranteed to be shitty, and for which I was way overqualified for. I stopped bringing up…
A thought I had yesterday after work
While I was on here or possibly another subreddit I saw a graph showing how if the minimum wage actually grew with inflation since the 70s and if the weight of value of the U.S. dollar were accounted for as well, we would be making about $23 an hour. I currently make $16. It's an odd place to be since I know I'm well enough over minimum wage to where others may tell me to simply stop whining, shut up, and be grateful, but I also still struggle. I don't eat out much at all, I haven't bought new clothes in years, I'm still in the same apartment paying $900 a month, but the price of everything else, food, electric, and gas just gobbles up my paychecks as I receive them. I'm JUST over the limit where I cannot receive government assistance too. The only thing I have free is…
Quit Hobby Lobby after 2 shifts
They have an incredible long lost of things you can't do as an employee, they make you take a math test, and the icing on the cake was they don't let you have a water bottle at the registers. I am someone that drinks a lot of water and couldn't believe I'd have to stand at a register for 4 hours before I got a break and could have water.
