( I just moved to another home, commute went from 40 mins to 1hr.. sometimes 1.5 hrs) His response was, ” People in California drive an hour and sometimes ever more. You can't do it? This is normal. What do you want from me? What do you want me to do about it? Move the company? It's not even that far!” I was like… “Maybe for you its close but for me its way too far. I would like to put in my 4 weeks notice. It would be a great time for you to find a replacement” I gave him a 4 week notice out of respect because he's my dad's BFF. On my last week of work, my boss brings in 3 girls to come learn from me. Right in front of me, he told them, ” Hey, I know its really really far. Like REALLY FAR. So…
Hope I'm doing this right, don't post much. I was talking to a boomer coworker today (who was wearing our union lanyard!). After complaining about Biden (which is totally fair game) he then told me it was nonsense that our city workers, including garbage men, were getting raises to $22/hour, saying that everything was going to cost more if they do that, and started mentioning fast food wages. I try to stay out of politics at the office, for better or worse, but I cut him off and told him “In Europe they're making that at McDonald's and a Big Mac doesn't cost anymore. It's because of Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk that things are costing more here, not the garbage men.” I wouldn't have had that on the tip of my tongue without this sub, so I wanted to say thanks. I don't think it changed his mind, as…
I work as a diesel mechanic and today I decided to leave a bit early around 1pm to hang with some friends. We currently have a high priority truck in the shop that needed to get done sooner than later. I told my boss earlier in the day that I was leaving early and he jokingly said that I need to finish it before I leave. The truck has a transmission and radiator that got sent out to be rebuilt and fixed. We got the transmission yesterday but the radiator is still out. I got the tranny on the jack and ready to be installed but by the time I was gonna install it, it was time to leave. I got into my street clothes and my boss saw me and stopped me and said” you have to finish this truck before you leave” I told him ” I have…

They Took my Chair
I work security at a major site. My post is psuedo-outdoors. I'm inside the walls, but sitting within two giant garage doors that are basically always opened. Today I walk into work, and walk by my post on the way to my locker. As I'm walking by, the previous shift let's me know that they took my chair, because the higher ups don't want “outdoor” posts sitting down anymore. Without missing a beat I simply tell my co-workers, “alright cool, I'm looking for a new job today.” I've worked here nearly 3 years. In that time I've been given more and more responsibilities, and had less and less comforts, with 0 pay increase. I honestly didn't mind that much, because it's actually a pretty easy and well paying job, but expecting me to stand all day, without a pay increase, is the last straw. I found multiple, better paying jobs…
