tl;dr meeting with HR coming up to lay out my formal complaint about a bully CXX who defamed me over email with colleagues on cc. Getting it off my chest and looking for opinions — In a conservative corporate environment but with a small HR team of 1 and a thin employee handbook with no progressive discipline. I (male) am fairly high tier but 2 tiers below the CXX (female) and an individual contributor for now. I have rapport and regularly meet with the C- execs including CEO. Without divulging all details, there was an email exchange where I was asked by CXX to make an update to a tool she uses – something i had put together 6 months back and which is well outside my job function but within my capability so I helped out to get the thing done quickly. I updated it, she misunderstood some details…
I usually wake up around 3 or 4 a.m. to do chores, take out the dog, grocery shop, clean, see how older mom is doing, etc. before clocking in to my 8-5. After work I wrap up other stuff and maybe squeeze in a game or two before bedtime around 8 or 9 p.m. How the hell do we have all these people saying they would be bored without work? Do they literally go home and not do anything? Wake up at 6 to just shower and eat then go to work? Then there's people with kids. Do the kids just sit there? Sounds like privilege if you can honestly say you would have nothing to do without a job.
So for the longest time we were planning to move back to US (NY) from Belgium after my wife got her dual citizenship, and even starting move things over there in preparation of it. But we ended up changing our minds earlier this year and are staying. We both have steady jobs and are protected by a national union (not just sector/company bound), are able to save enough to now buy a cute house in the center of our city. We both have at least 30 days PTO so we can go visit her family twice a year. My wife has had type 1 diabetes since 3 years old and is completely covered for free here. The stories of people in the US rationing their insulin etc terrify me. Thing is, she wants to be with her family and get to see them more than a couple times a year,…
I did a UI/UX test for a company called infinigods which make shitty gacha mobile games. the test of course was a whole interface design of 2 pages about collecting cards – which means they can pretty much steal the whole design and make a whole game around it, along with the arrangement ideas. i went above and beyond and did the UI part with painting, adding shadows, making it all stylized and ready to pretty much ship as a game. I made it absolutely beautiful while the task called for a barebones design. today i received an email from the recruiter that the art director gave feedback fucking with me, saying how its not good and they wanted a simpler designer and blablabla trashing me. i immediately told the recruiter to tell him to suck me off, i have 6 months of welfare to collect and good luck finding…
