Performance reviews are so bogus. Just give us a fair raise.

Hey all, just received a performance review from my manager. As a background, I work in IT as an engineer and the manager I report to is on the “business” side of the organization (business director). Although my work is purely technical, the org decided that a business person should grade the technical people as well (in this business unit). I ended up receiving, what is a “C” equivalent of a score as overall my work was complete and thorough but wasn't (insert business metric here) enough. All my other friends and peers here (same amount of work, different team) received a much higher score for the same amount of effort as myself. The only difference here is that they have a technical person doing these reviews (senior engineers). Now they will be making several thousand more in their salary for this year, while I am here making less for…
