This is going to make me sound super ignorant and I mean no offense, but as someone from australia I just don’t understand why america does have better rights for workers?
All I hear is about how it’s the land of the free and the best country ever yet, I get free healthcare, have never stressed about a medical bill, have always had 4-5 weeks of paid annual leave, paid sick leave, paid maternity leave (never been preg, but it’s there) so on and so forth. Our work week is only 38 hours with paid break times and anything overtime is paid.
We have established minimum wage which is around $20. Can someone explain why it just hasn’t happened in america, supposedly “the best country?” I would have thought this is just standard for a first world country.
Imagine claiming to be the best yet your wait staff depend on paying extra on their meal to support their wage…
