So I have a podcast and in the coming week I'm going to be talking about “the protestant work ethic” and how bullshit it is. More or less a response to MillerKnoll, but a broader criticism. If you're not familiar, in very simple terms the “protestant work ethic” is if you work hard it pays off.
I don't know if it's appropriate to plug my podcast or not, so I won't.
I have a basic outline of what I want to talk about. I'd love to hear if there are any aspects of it that you have strong opinions about. Essentially where I am I plan to talk a little bit about the history of the term/idea, how it became Ingrained, why it's wrong, and the inverse of people that don't work deserve not to be “rewarded” (or even punished). I also plan to address that billionaires are not, in fact, hard working.
I love the takes on this sub and I'd love to hear opinions and perspectives, or if there is anything that you feel I should include. Thank you all for this sub, this is one of the few glimpses of hope I have for society.
