I am a manager at a company with huge responsibilities and recently a policy was shared with me that would require all managers to leave company vehicles at work, and be on call while responding with personal vehicles.
As a manager who is on call 24/7 and having had taken other concessions in the past regarding remuneration of my job, this was the last straw for me.
I wrote up a respectful letter to upper management requesting more communication on the matter as I believe it is very important that policy changes should be a collaborative process.
Upper management decided that a top down approach would be implemented and that what I said didn't matter as the policy was to take effect immediately.
I filed for resignation.
I was told that upper management shouldn't have to kiss our ass to make us happy. Well, we shouldn't have to kiss theirs either.
Good luck finding a manager with all the certification and willingness to take on immense stress and workload for no perks.
I will bike to work with my back pack of tools for 2 weeks!
Here's to new beginnings and knowing your worth!
Cheers.
