POV: After you made clear that the position is of an independent contractor, not an employee

Some context, was told it'd be a freelance/ independent contractor position. Met with the CEO, he's quite disrespectful in his conduct, to the point of pestering me by calling me when i told him i was at the doctor to nitpick why i “wrote my middle name” on my business card. Like are you kidding me? It's my fucking given name. Sent him an email affirming my boundaries as a professional and even offered to work for half the rate as long as I could maintain my remote independence. The second to last sentence was: “I'm so sorry to impose but if we are unable to come to a mutually beneficial partnership where we both feel respected and valued, i am unfortunately not interested in proceeding further.”
