I work in production as a cnc machinist for a large corporation (netherlands, europe). Pay is ok, benefits are ok and other stuff i dont care that much. There is one thing that drives me to the point of just packing my shit and leaving is that they have a no no phone use and pc use for personal reasons. People who work in the field may know that sometimes (or every time , depending on the field ) , machining parts take a long time. In my case it varies from 30 minutes to 10 hours+. They expect me to do nothing and just watch the machine. For me, thats impossible, so i always tend to browse stuff.or chat on fb. I am fairly good at my job, with no crashes and very few scraps that are of my own fault but it seems that the fact that i use my phone outweighs everything else. Is my only choice to just suck it up and look for something else? Usually other companies i worked for, even if they had some sort of regulations, they gave me the ok as long as there were no problems. It wouldnt be a problem to find something else if i quit, but i dont know if they fire me how thag would affect me. Any1 else in similar positions? How did you cope with this? Just go somewhere else?
