I made a post in /jobs saying how 15 days PTO for the company I was interviewing for felt criminal. The point of the post was to say how PTO in the US majorly sucks compared to other countries.
Most comments were essentially saying I should be “grateful” I have PTO at all, what do I even need more than 15 days off for, called me “entitled”, and how others have barely any. Like I’m sorry I want to rest and live my life? Sorry I don’t want to be a corporate slaves and sell my life for profits. I don’t wanna work til I’m 65, then feel like I can finally live. Call me entitled for wanting to do things with my life I guess.
Honestly, I’m baffled at the comments! I feel sad for the commenters that they’re scraping by with nothing and it seems like they’re brainwashed by wanting to work (maybe that sounds harsh? idk). It’s really sad that we’re conditioned to live to work, and sees nothing more beyond it.
I resent the working culture in the US because obviously, they don’t care about us. They only care about profits and control. Corporations force us to work til our skins fall off and that’s it. Other countries allow their people to enjoy extensive time off + maternity leave while we’re over here eating off scraps. Even companies with “unlimited” time off sneer their employees for actually using it.
Anyways, 15 days PTO is criminal, and I’ll die on this hill.
