So I have to help sell Christmas trees for a volunteer job I do. After the person pays for the tree I trim it and help load it into their vehicle. Sometimes they slide me a tip as a thank you. Is it legal for the volunteer organization to take the tip from me and count it as a “donation” even if the tip was given directly to me? I’m in MD and I can’t find anything specific in regards to volunteers being tipped.
