I AM A FIRM BELIEVER IN ACTING MY WAGE
I need to rant. Kind of in a good way. Recently I moved and in my new state it was a hard transition (coming out of a complete blunder of a business that used to be profitable) anyway. I moved here and got a job as a leasing agent. Was promised 20$ an hour and commission for signed leases. Turns out the commission is legit 50 bucks. That’s it. Not even a full tank of gas. They would NOT let me take lunches out of the office even though there is 4 agents that have nothing to fucking do because it’s an office of boomers who “offered me a job to fill a seat to file paperwork in the order we like it”. You can’t be on your phone , go out for lunch , oh and they deduct 1hr for the day for your lunch LMAOOOO. I quit and I can’t stomach the idea of going back. Even for the two weeks notice I gave. 50$ commission a month shouldn’t even be fucking given. Thanks for legit nothing. You stole my lunch hours and gave me back 2 hours of the 20 you stole?
Job 2 18.50$ an hour concierge at a luxury apartment building downtown. Incredibly dangerous after 8pm ish. The job entails nothing. Giving packages to people who live there and that’s fucking it. All of the sudden today after them finally realizing the entire building is very dangerous drug dealers they implemented a never leaving the desk order no matter what and that you have to bring your own food and not move , no accessing the computer , no phones , no calls , no nothing. Just sit there in the middle of Detroit at night. Free willy. There’s no sense of anything. Managers don’t know who’s working employees don’t know which building to work at no one knows what their position even is ? Fuck that. My main reason of quitting is this place gets so ungodly dangerous at night as a 24M I genuinely feel in danger.
Now here’s the good news. I have been in the interview process for a while now to become a GM at a Family entertainment business some 40 minutes away from my apartment. The salary is 66k a year and they treat me PHENOMENALLY. I am a at a complete shock. The interview was fun. They’re sending me ona 2 month training at one of their main stores fully paid food paid gas paid hotel paid. And a a couple years from now I’m going to job hop either higher into the same company or into another.
TLDR: job hopping is the way to fucking go. Got two jobs quit them in a month for one that pays more than both combined at a place where I can act my current desired wage. W
