Quitting my job to become a freelancer

I’ve recently realized how much I despise workplace hierarchy and the idea of freelancing (video editing) is very attractive to me. I had a bad experience at work last week and I’m not sure a traditional work place is for me. I’ve always been interested in the craft and would love to get started. I also live in a house where I am supported financially whether or not I work. So I don’t really have to worry about financial instability. Would it be unreasonable to up and quit my job and get straight to learning how to edit and gradually turning it into a career?
