Got a new job in a nursing home and it seemed like a great opportunity. Got put in a new location with new owners because they company I applied for sold that building. Took a position in the house where I can learn about the residents before I went to health aide school (which they pay for) and all was good. They offer me full-time in this position after a week, which strikes me as odd, but I figure they’re short-staffed.
Current job knew I wasn’t happy with the situation going on there because my department manager was out on surgery & I was running things mostly alone. She comes back, they offer me a schedule that is so compatible for my work/life balance I’d be dumb to say no.
I try to politely quit this new job because I can’t do both & I’m burning out so I figure I need a break. New job tells me that I can’t quit. Why? Because they were using me & putting me at full-time to fire someone else. And this is days before Christmas mind you. This person didn’t do anything bad, and everyone always says nice things about her.
I am LIVID upon finding this out. I ask for advice. My partner thinks I should no call/no show, my brother agrees, I have terrible anxiety and idk what to do, but I refuse to work for a company that would fire someone days before Christmas, and with absolutely no merit behind it.
So yeah, I’m quitting my new job because I’m not a non-feeling ass. New boss has tried to guilt trip me repeatedly, but I’m standing firm. How do I quit my new job without notice & stand firm? New boss has tried to guilt trip me repeatedly already & as I said, I have terrible anxiety.
