Quitting Right Before Work Starts Again

I’ve been with the company for 3 years, with 1 change in position during this time ($1,500 raise, that I accepted without complaint because I felt that I was accommodated by being offered this new position when in reality they could have let me go). I was given an offer for the upcoming year, and I countered – the salary was offensive considering that not only do I have the experience, but I take on WAY more than my workload, am freaking phenomenal at what I do, and the health insurance that they offer takes a GOOD chunk of salary (though it would be more expensive if I went and purchased on my own). Anyways, once I countered, I was told to “highly reconsider” their offer since they aren’t budging. Which blows my mind considering that part of my job consists of finances and I know how much they’re bringing…

For the current year, I’m on a 10 month contract, but get paid out over 12. I would like to receive my full salary, so naturally I told them “sure, I accept, but would love to revisit this conversation midway through the year”. However, I have zero intention of returning and am going to quit the Friday before I am meant to return.

I felt bad for a second, because it does screw them but…. They obviously don’t care about what I bring to the table. Combine that with the fact that the boss is horrifically disorganized, shady, and communication is severely lacking amongst higher ups to employees, I can’t really even bring myself to care anymore. The only thing I’m worried about is the possibility of going without a job for a bit (thankfully I have a pretty decent savings). Otherwise, good freaking riddance to me being free of this horrible management and organization.
