I got a job offer that I can’t refuse. I have a kid on the way and need more money. The job is going to be hard physical labor but more consistent hours and better pay. I want to leave a two week notice because I actually respect my coworkers and bosses here. The issue is I have to let the job know that I’m accepting the position by tomorrow or Wednesday and they’ll want to know when I can start. I want to start on the 30th of this month but that would mean I could only give my current job a 1.5 week notice. Should I do that or start on February 6 and give my current job a 2.5 week notice? The new job doesn’t care either way I just want to make more money sooner and have weekends off again (which I don’t have at my current job)
