I work for a railroad that was great!!! Lots of overtime enough to make it worthwhile then Buffett bought us!!! Now it sucks!! They have been cutting jobs since the 08 crisis and never brought back the workforce. We run at bare minimums
Maybe I’m looking at retirement. It’s an old wore out system that you pay a bit more than SSI. However it’s meant more for your spouse to not work and they get a pension also. The issue is if they work when it’s time to retire they get whatever pays more SSI or railroad retirement essentially losing one retirement that was paid.
I feel I fucked up I hired out at 25 and close to 20 years service. I’ll end up with 36 years of service before I can retire!!! Any other railroaders on here??? I believe the boomers who were just happy they had a job have let us get screwed too long now we are all fucked!!
