Hello all! I've been lucky enough to have 6 years off being a stay at home parent, and now I've been offered a job that I want. I need to work for the next 5 years or so and then I can hopefully branch out by myself.
However, the company who want to hire me are using a 3rd party to do the references and as I've not worked for their reference period (5 years) they want ALL my bank statements for that period.
This feels like a massive invasion of my privacy? I've asked if they will accept personal references which is what most other places do, coupled with references from my previous jobs (outside of 5 years).
Funny how an email from someone saying “yep they worked here” is as valuable as 5 years of quite personal info
Any suggestions? I might contact the HR department and see if they even know that this is what they are asking of applicants.
TLDR; how much personal info should I share qith a 3rd party to get a job?
