Hello anti workers,
I work in IT / Software in let's a first world country. I've been working from home since 2019, and I recently got a new job which requires me to go into the office 3 times a week. Unfortunately, due to the crappy market at the moment, as well as my previous contract not extending due to budget cuts, I had to take this new contract. It's for a large organisation.
My situation is my wife is basically physically disabled (she has a bad case of Fibromyalgia). It's a muscle condition which doesn't allow her to really do much (no cooking, travelling, cleaning, she has issues with sleep.. it's not great). This obviously puts a ton of pressure on me being her primary caretaker. Working from home made both our lives, and our relationship better.
Is there any way I can bring this up with my current work and not risk them letting me go? The person who hired me is extremely keen on office over home, so much that they made me go into the office on a non mandatory day just because they were in. They are not my manager however. Has anyone dealt with this situation? Any help would be appreciated.
