Hey, normally I really like my job but today something happened that is inexcusable. They made this video a required part of safety training without any warning in the email. (Mind you, the video doesn't have a content warning either.) Content warning for said video:
1:11 – 1:31 shows an active shooter shooting multiple people w/ blood splatter
3:22 – 4:12 show the active shooter with occasional frames zoomed in on the gun
4:39 – 4:51 show dead bodies as authorities search for the active shooter
Audio of gunshots and people screaming are dispersed throughout the video
I'm not trying to be someone who's “easily triggered” but we're a large business who is more than likely employing multiple people who have or know someone who has survived gun violence. I sent out an email as a response with the time codes and my boss made me recall the email. (The email did not include anything other than the content warnings above.)
I'm not sure how to proceed other than hoping the people in charge do the right thing. What would you do in this situation?
