Returning to work after paternal leave, anything I should be aware of if I want to quit due to an offer from another company

My 8 week paternity leave is coming to an end and I have an offer for another job coming either this week or next. To be fair, I’ve been interviewing since before my leave began but ran into some troubles with the process due to a hiring freeze. The company I work for really sucks in terms of treatment of employees and even fought me on how I take paternity leave. They tried to tell me that I had to split my leave up based on business needs but never referenced anything in their policy about it. On many emails and communications, I asked for them to send me something or point to where it said this in any policy print and they came back with nothing besides “we treat all leave like PTO”. I knew this was a lie because our leave requires a form to be filled out, go on short term leave and we get disconnected from all services including email thru their network.

Since I have an offer for another job coming, would you recommend putting in my 2 weeks as soon as the offer comes in or should I wait until after my leave is up to put in my 2 weeks? Anything else I should be aware of by leaving too soon after leave?
