Employer has had RTO since last year, and claims to be “flexible” and that it's up to the employee to decide how many days but this needs to be agreed with the line manager. I was doing 2 days a week for about 8 months, and now my manager wants me in 3 days for the dumbest reason — the head of another team (we don't even report into him) wants to see everyone in more. My presence is absolutely not required for the role, I'm only a seat warmer but I still go in anyway. I'm unwilling to do 3 days in this harsh winter climate (mid western winters), I don't wanna fall sick.
Would like to explore what rights I have to push back, and get your opinions with below facts:
1) No official rule that states it has to be 3 days min at office, some people are coming in randomly.
2) Current schedule was approved by line manager through a system request. However, this has a stipulation that it's subject to change as necessary at anytime, so they can just ask me to make it 3 days instead of 2.
I thought I can propose working 3 days in the summer days and fall instead. I think my line manager is over blowing the actual need vs what the management would like to see, he's not a fan of this (or so he says) but is acting like we have no choice.
