Long post but needing advice and support
So on Thursday I was told that by the assistant superintendent of HR that they will not be renewing my contract at the end of the year. This woman has never been a fan of mine, I had a meeting with her in January about an incident with a staff member and during this meeting she asked why I took a mental health day. I explained that I had a lot going on including a family friend passing away. Her response was “you are expected to show up to work everyday, I had someone die this morning and I’m still here doing my job with no issue and you should be doing the same” and then in my meeting in where they told me they won’t be renewing my contract she said “Honestly it was our mistake bc we did all the interviews, back ground checks, reference checks and it was our fault to realize you wouldn’t be the right fit”
Here are my questions: I have been given nothing official stating that they will not be renewing my contract, they just told me I need to submit a letter of resignation saying I’ll finish up the school year. Is this fishy? Almost like their trying to trick me to resign?
Second: should I go to the superintendent of HR about the comments that were made? I just feel like these comments were very unprofessional. Thank you.
