Shorted on holiday hours- legal?

I work in Massachusetts at a child care center. I was just paid for the week of 7/3. We were closed on the 3rd and 4th and paid for the holiday. However I was only paid 12 hours instead of my usual 20 hours that I would have worked if we had been open on those two days. My employer said it was because I had not worked enough weeks at a full time schedule yet and was going off of my part time schedule. This sounds like bullshit to me- is it? I told her that if I wasn’t going to be paid for my regular scheduled hours then I would have tried to pick up hours that week. It was not communicated at all, and why would I assume I would be paid according to an outdated schedule? Any advice is appreciated.
