Should I ask for gratuity?

I'm currently working for a company that usually gets rich clients. The bosses are big assholes and they don't give an f about the clients or the job, just trying to get the last dime out of them. When I started working here, all my clients were having trouble with the company and were deeply annoyed/stressed. But I tried to finish their projects with sympathy and integrity, informing them of each step. About the job itself, I will just say that the projects are life-changing. Now I am finally done with this shithole and waiting for my paycheck to leave. Should I email my clients and politely ask for a gratuity? Will it work? (I'm heavily underpaid) if my bosses find out, the only thing they can do is fire me I just don't want to seem like a beggar to the clients.
