It needs a paint job, a new roof in 5 years, a new bathroom, new benches in the kitchen.
I currently live in the house. Been in it for over a year. I waited 7 years on the waiting list to get this house. I waited 7 years on the housing list to get this house. Almost a decade and there’s people who’ve been on the list for 9 years in my town.
I’d like to buy it but rent it out. The only risk is that I’d never be able to sell it because it’s in a small town 1400 people and a lot of people are poor here, but there is a housing shortage (8 people in one 3 bedroom house).
It’s very sentimental to me the house and it’s in my hometown. I just know I’ll never be able to sell it.
I am buying an apartment in Cairns, QLD this year though. The reason I want to buy in my hometown is because of I can’t get a job in the city I need the house in my hometown so I can always come back because I know I will always get a job here. What do you think?
I’m afraid of regretting not buying this $110k place because I know there are no other cheap houses like this ever in Australia. I know this is a once in a life time opportunity.
Is it worth buying? I live in the house atm. It’s a two bedroom brick house.
EDIT: The reason I’m buying in Cairns is so that my siblings have a place to stay when they go to Uni. A lot of parents here do that for their kids; live and work in small town and buy a place in the city for their kids so kids can go to University.
