Small industry, with my ex-boss tarnishing my name. Should I go MIA? [LinkdIn, Instagram, change my (work) phone number)]

My boss is being a jerk, I have been getting calls from every random place since then.Honestly, at the moment, I even want to even change my name.

While I got a new job (22% more than the initial 27%) I feel going MIA is the best once I start this role.

I want to be out of this situation for a bit, but some think it is ridiculous and not the best option.

Complete story

I had joined an MNC last year (30℅ standard hike), where my ex-boss reached out and wanted to poach me to his new company.

I really liked the ex-boss and clients he had, so I quit the MNC immediately (and blacklisted)

[Note poaching rules required me to be in a part of another organisation – even if it's just for a week – so he only offered if AFTER I joined the MNC].

Now, before things got official with this place and ex-boss, I got an offer which was 20% higher to the MNC salary.

When I was interviewed here, I gave the number where I had another offer, i.e. (50% higher than what I was getting paid for when working with my ex-boss who poached me).

The interviewer (ex-boss's boss) didn't care as it fits their budget. My ex-boss, who poached me was annoyed as it was too big of a 'hike'.

[Note, I was grossly underpaid, so my salary was market standard].

During that interview, and my yearly review, I was committed to a bonus and an increment.

I was to get the letter in July but got it in September (after asking multiple times) only to learn that I am 'not eligible' for either a bonus and have been receiving my '10% increment' since July.

My ex-boss moved the money around in my CTC (gratuity & health insurance).Basically, my increment wasn't even 2℅.

[My health insurance was only applicable if I got hospitalised & gratuity was after competing 5 years in company].

I quit the next hour.

The guy who interviewed me, (ex-boss's boss), tried to retain me by moving me to his team. He said he couldn't give me a bonus but can reflect the committed number in total in my CTC – i.e., 27%.

This conversation went on for weeks, where I stopped giving other interviews. (15th September to 1st November). I really didn't want to leave the company.

I had a backup offer to be safe, but decided to tell no on 30th October – I was to join on 7th Nov, didn't want to burn bridges.

My ex-boss threw a tantrum about me shifting teams. So, the team I was to join, decided to not go ahead with the offer on 2nd November, I was to join their team on 7th November.

So, all of a sudden, I didn't have a job.

I gave a few interviews and disclosed my last drawn salary as I was in a mess. (I do not apply or go ahead with companies if that is their first question but I didn't want to make my life more difficult).

The thing is, I am good at what I do and received (and am still receiving) offers, within one week.

I got an offer where my next company really (really) liked me but was told my demand is 'too much' (22% more) as they were basing it on my 'current salary'.
They also didn't have the ideal (on-paper) position – but the money was not negotiable.

[I will never understand why my current salary makes a difference – a hike only matters if it is internal. It's supposed to be based on their budget set aside].

Well, they complied i.e., 50% more than my last salary. I have some amount held as a retention bonus but the number is better in general.

Also, hired me as an 'Associate' instead of senior executive, so that's great. [They did it from their end].

I'm very hurt and upset with everything that has been happening.

My ex-boss wants me to return my company (gifted) phone stating it is a 'company' phone. It isn't. With also stating that 'oh, you come from a good family and don't 'need' money/ already have a more expensive phone' etc. I haven't taken money from my parents since 19.

I do not want to return the phone out of spite. I have a loan going on, I pay a lot of things around the house (they don't ask but I do) but the explanation that I am single and come from a good family is ridiculous as fuck.

Long story short: Am I over-reacting?
