(U.K.) is it legal for an employer to give 2 days notice to find a union rep for a formal probation review?

Small backstory: I’ve been bullied by an employer for several months now. This is the second time this has happened to me so that’s really frustrating. They have found something wrong with everything I do despite glowing feedback from colleagues, other managers, and clients. They will also isolate me from my team and pile on other peoples workload (and criticising me when it becomes overwhelming). This all started after I raised a concern about how something was communicated to me, and I’m not the only person they’re doing this to. This culminated in yesterday when they pulled me aside to hand me a letter announcing a probation review (which they had me read in front of them). HR will be there and they advised me I could bring a colleague or union rep. The problem is that they gave me 2 days notice. The union (obviously) can’t have someone available…

This culminated in yesterday when they pulled me aside to hand me a letter announcing a probation review (which they had me read in front of them). HR will be there and they advised me I could bring a colleague or union rep. The problem is that they gave me 2 days notice. The union (obviously) can’t have someone available and my colleagues will be punished for coming with me (one of them has been also presented with a letter about “bad conduct” for questioning the pay review process).

I’m already planning on putting in my notice but I don’t know what I’ll do about being alone tomorrow. And it raises the question is it legal to only give me 2 days? That feels impossible and puts me at a significant disadvantage. It also means I can’t prepare a defence. Any advice?
