So sick and tired of everything I do never being enough.

Like being told “you should have done this!” Or “why did you do it that way?” when you’re just trying to do your best? Get a job in insurance. (Or sales in retail. Bc I dealt with this kind of BS there too.) Am am a customer service rep. Not sales. But for some reason it is my job this month, on top of the 50 thousand other things on my list, to call hundreds of clients to set up appointments with my sales reps so they can write more policies and get more commission. So I call all these people, get them set up with our reps. Then I have to remember to send them all reminders for their appointments. If I am only able to leave a voicemail, I am to send them a text too. And what portion will I get of the sales made from these…

Am am a customer service rep. And what portion will I get of the sales made from these appointments I set up? Zilch. Nadda. Nothing.

I do it because it’s my job and I have to. But I don’t like it. It’s like cold calling and I loathe cold calling.

Anyway, one of the other ways to set these appointments is asking clients when they call us. Well a lady called us saying she wanted to switch her insurance to us from her current carrier. I could have just got her info over the phone and gave it to one of my sales reps to follow up. Instead I thought, “she would be the perfect appointment opportunity.”

So I set one up with her and one of my sales reps. When I could have just as easily half assed and got her info for someone to call.

My boss, overhearing my convo with our new potential client: “why did you set that up so late? You should have set it for tomorrow! She could go look somewhere else for insurance in that time!” (It’s 12 days from now…)

“Well the sales rep this is going to doesn’t work past 3pm and this lady wanted 4pm because she works.”

Her answer to that was I should have scheduled it anyway for tomorrow and let the sales rep sort it out. Well this would have been nice to be communicated BEFOREHAND! Especially given this particular sales rep is hell bent on leaving at 3pm on Fridays. I figured it was easier to set it for a future date. Then she asked “well why not next mon?” The client is having someone over to work on her house next week. Seriously, the day I set up works for her. Why are you pushing this? Would you rather I not have set it up at all?!

So, I get an appointment set up when I technically didn’t have to, made sure it went to the rep that is up for the next sale, and it’s still not good enough!

I’m freaking TIRED of this! I hate sale’s mentality and its need to push clients, and employees alike, to their breaking point…I’m doing the best I can here…
